James Beresford
DIRECTOR
I care about helping people and communities develop in healthy relationship with the world around them. I try to combine ecology with human and organisational development to explore how we learn, develop and find rewarding work that creates health for ecosystems and people. I hope People’s Park for Nature can make a contribution to this!
I'm co-founder of Bramble; a group of coaches, curators, consultants and community builders who design radically hopeful, people-centred, place-based interventions for leaders and teams.

George Hadley
DIRECTOR
I’m a Lewes based creative chap with a passion for using design to help organisations communicate and a big believer in the ability for creativity to build communities. As a father and just as someone who cares about the environment, both locally and globally, I joined PPN to get involved in reconnecting people and nature, it’s a win-win!

Hayley North
DIRECTOR
A born-and-bred Ouse Valley native, I’ve travelled globally in my work as a chef, focused on locally grown & wild harvested food, and food-as-medicine. I’m also a trained holistic health coach, yoga teacher, nutritional therapist and somatic coach. Through rooting into place, eating the abundance of wild foods offered by the land here, and stewardship of our kin - plant, animal and mineral - my hope is that with the People’s Park For Nature we can call in a thriving, diverse & resilient future for the Ouse Valley and beyond!

Brett North
DIRECTOR
I'm Lewes based but not a true local. I have always thrived in outdoor environments and have a deep love for nature. My day job is running an ecological landscape design business focused on bringing function to landscapes on every level, making spaces work for humans and wildlife as one system. A passion for edible plants and foraging keep me looking for ways to improve our food systems and bring greater food resilience to our communities.

Dylan Walker
DIRECTOR
I’m an ecologist and entrepreneur specialising in community-driven wildlife restoration projects and experiences that ensure that we have a deeper connection with nature. I’ve lived in the Ouse Valley for 15 years and dream of seeing this beautiful place become wilder for the benefit of people and nature. Throughout my career I’ve witnessed the incredible things that happen when people come together and reimagine the future. I’m thrilled to be on the PPN journey. I hope you can join us as we reach for the stars!

Gillian Orrow
CORE TEAM
I am a GP, passionate about the benefits of nature connection and nature restoration for human and planetary health.
In 2020 I co-founded Growing Health Together, an initiative that connects the NHS in East Surrey to people and places creating health in local neighbourhoods, and helps to support equity and sustainability through initiatives involving nature, culture, connection and mutual care.
I am excited to work with the PPN core team and wider partners, including Diversity Lewes, to create a holistic approach to environmental justice across the Lower Ouse Valley, the place I am lucky enough to call home.

Jennifer Moore
CORE TEAM
I was born in West Sussex and have lived and worked in East Sussex all of my adult life, and am pleased to be involved with the People’s Park for Nature to achieve wide-ranging impact to the rich and diverse Lower Ouse catchment.
I have a background in agriculture, geosciences, and sustainable apiculture, and these days I run my own business focussing on art and illustration, using my experience with nature and landscape to champion our wonderful British birds and other wildlife, as well as working with rewilding and conservation organisations to raise both funds and awareness about their initiatives here in the UK and further afield.
My role within the core team of the PPN is to represent the presence and voice of Nature, to help ensure the decisions made reflect not only our human needs, but also those of the wider environment.

Beyond my professional roles, I am a proud father to three children, who inspire and ground my work every day.

Ron Nussey
CORE TEAM
I’m a writer, graphic designer and communications person who migrated to the Lower Ouse Valley one Summer and never looked back.
I work in community energy, for a non-profit focused on fuel poverty alleviation, growing locally owned renewable energy, reducing energy use where possible and ensuring no one is left behind in the wider transition away from fossil fuels.
I joined PPN out of a love of nature and our local area, to do my bit for a better future for my family and to grow opportunities for meaningful work that support both people and wildlife in Sussex.
Governance
The team behind the People’s Park for Nature have set up a Community Interest Company (CIC no: 16146505) to manage the park. A CIC is a special type of limited company which exists to benefit the community.
Our aim is to develop a governance structure that gives everybody a voice and as much involvement in decision making as possible.
We also plan to ensure that we represent the voices of the natural world. Our intention is that nature will have human representation on our Board of Directors. We will also be looking at other ways of considering nature’s perspective before we make important decisions through, for example, a Council of all Beings.
