Artists: Apply for Funded Work Creating Nature-Connection Installation

Paid opportunity – £800 (inclusive of all costs)

People’s Park for Nature is seeking 5 artists to create engaging, low-cost installations that spark curiosity, wonder, and care for the natural world across the Lower Ouse Valley.

The Brief

Design a simple, sensory nature-connection installation. This might include:

  • Artistic features

  • Interpretive signs

  • Interactive activity prompts

Your installation should be:

  • Low-cost and replicable

  • Easy for others to adapt

  • Designed to engage the senses, imagination, and emotions

Example ideas:

  • “Look Closely” insect-viewing points

  • “What if this tree could speak?” storytelling signs

  • “Rewild your senses” activity prompts

What You’ll Receive

£800 total fee, covering:

  • Artist fee

  • Materials

  • Travel

  • All associated costs

What You’ll Do

Over Summer 2026, you will:

1.Co-create with a local community group

  • We’ll match you with a group and secure landowner permission.

You can either:

  • Meet the group, then create the installation independently, or

  • Create it collaboratively and install together later.

2.Install the work on site

3.Write a simple “How to…” guide

  • This will form part of an open-source toolkit so others can recreate or adapt your idea.

Who Benefits

Primary audiences:

  • Local communities of all ages

  • People’s Park for Nature groups (landowners, volunteers, community groups)

  • Local artists and facilitators

Wider audiences:

  • Visitors and passers-by

  • Educators and organisers

  • Nature restoration partners

How to Apply

Please submit a short proposal (no lengthy application required) outlining:

  • What you would like to create

  • How you would involve a local community group

  • How your installation would encourage more people to connect with nature

Deadline for applications: 31st March

In Essence

This project invites everyone — especially those who don’t see themselves as “nature people” — to reconnect with the living world through curiosity, creativity, and care.

If you’re interested in creating meaningful, accessible work that can be shared and replicated, we’d love to hear from you.

Contact Dylan at dylan.walker@peoplesparkfornature.org if you have any questions or to apply.
