The Ouse Valley Needs You!

Become a Freelance Wild Advisor and Help People and Nature Thrive

Are you passionate about wildlife, community, and restoring nature where you live?

Join our new team of Wild Advisors — a network of local experts helping people across the lower Ouse Valley (Lewes District) reconnect with nature and take action for a wilder, healthier future.

Wild Advisors are at the heart of the People’s Park for Nature, inspiring people to rewild spaces, improve access, and connect people to our awe-inspiring natural world — while being paid for their expertise.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide friendly, practical advice to individuals, community groups, or landowners

  • Visit local sites or offer online sessions (around 2 hours each, including travel)

  • Send a short follow-up email with your key recommendations and resources

  • Help build a movement for climate and nature recovery across the Ouse Valley

Payment and Support

  • £100 per visit or online session (includes travel)

  • Flexible freelance work — invoice any time (30-day terms)

  • Free online training to get you started

  • Access to shared resources, mentoring, and a supportive community of peers

Funding comes from grants — and we’ll keep working to expand it. If funding runs low, public requests will become fee-based (handled directly by the People’s Park for Nature).

When we receive requests from the public we will pass them to the most relevant advisor. Anybody requesting advice will be required to join the PPN as a member first. Joining is completely free.

What’s a Wild Advisor?

A Wild Advisor is someone with the skills, knowledge, or enthusiasm to help others make space for nature. You might already be:

🌳 Planting trees, wildflowers, or restoring habitats
🧑‍🎨 Creating art, stories, or crafts that celebrate the living world
👩‍🌾 Running a community garden or local food project
🚶 Leading walks or outdoor learning
♿ Improving access so everyone can enjoy nature

Or doing something completely different — if it connects people and nature, we want to hear about it!

Why Join?

Be part of something bigger — a community of doers, dreamers, and local experts helping nature return to every corner of the Ouse Valley.

You’ll gain:
🌿 Practical resources and toolkits
💬 Peer learning and mentoring
🌍 Collaboration on real projects
🪴 A collective voice for nature in your community

Together, we’ll make every neighbourhood part of the People’s Park for Nature.

Ready to Get Started?

Applications are open from now until 31 October — places are limited to the first 30 accepted applicants.
